Japanese reading report

This week I read 鬼滅の刃 vol. 16, 17, 18, and 19, bringing me to the end of the currently-published 単行本 volumes. Good times were had. I also started going through a subs2srs deck for the anime to get some listening practice. So far my comprehension is about 75%, and most of the lines that I didn’t immediately get were N+1. I’m going through this deck much more slowly than ヒナまつり (which I’ve also been keeping up on) in order to keep my workload from growing too quickly.

氷菓 book club continues, reaching page 72 and the end of chapter 3. A lot of the words I had to look up over the first few weeks have been repeated by now, which is pretty nice. I’ve come across some nice new grammar including the conjunctive ど, which took me down a pretty interesting tangent.

Thanks to a recommendation by Supi, I came across 世にも奇妙な物語, which sort of feels like a Japanese version of the Twilight Zone. I watched three episodes of this — one about an elderly salaryman who’s befriended by ちびまる子ちゃん after being laid off from his job; one about a girl who imagines scenes from Japanese history in her everyday life; and one about a man who has faucets appear near him when some critical event is about to happen in his life. It’s a pretty enjoyable format and I’ll probably watch some more in the future.
