This week was a bit rough for me. I got a decent amount of reading done but wasn’t able to hit any of my weekly goals due to being busy all weekend and only being able to read in stolen moments here and there.
First up: I watched three episodes of 映像研には手を出すな! I really like the animation but keeping up with the dialogue is pretty difficult. Two of the main characters have a very eccentric way of speaking to each other, using words like でござる, あっし, and 氏. On top of all that there was just a lot of unfamiliar vocab so my comprehension was pretty bad throughout. I actually started reading vol. 1 of the manga of the same name, and it’s much more approachable, though there are still a lot of words I don’t know . I made it about halfway through before putting that on hold too so I can spend some focused time reading and looking stuff up.
On Friday I read half of 鬼滅の刃 vol. 15, and will probably finish it tonight on my long ride home. (Update: finished) This is one of the series I can read with little effort at this point at maybe 90% comprehension, so I don’t have too much to report on.
Finally, over the last two days I’ve read another 12 pages in 氷菓, which puts me just a few pages behind schedule for the wanikani book club. So far nothing particularly notable has happened in this chunk besides the introduction of a new character, but I’m definitely speeding up.
